Emma Stone hopped on the Saturday Night Live stage last night to kick off the show, hosting the late night laugher for the second time in an episode that included a couple of raunchy sketches.

But her rather tame opening monologue with a Spiderman-costumed Andy Samberg (and her real Amazing Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield) was not the least bit indicative of what was to come.

Now, on to the hotter news. In “Technology Hump,” Stone and Samberg played hosts of a show for techies who have an odd fetish of watching gadgets like digital cameras and Android phones, um, hump (seriously).

Then, in “Bridal Shower Gifts,” while Kristin Wiig played a bubbly bachelorette, Stone transformed into Wiig’s frumpy, husky-voiced co-worker who brought quite a few inappropriate “gifts” to the occasion.

And those weren’t her only notable performances.

Stone also played a contestant on the “Secret Word” game show in which she faced off against Wiig’s overdramatic Mindy Elise Grayson character, as a Miss America winner who makes out with her own ventriloquist dummy during the game.

When Emma Stone made her film debut in 2007′s Superbad, she felt like an unusual breath of fresh air — a brand-new teen actress who could already boast a fully formed personality. If it took her a few years to find her groove, well, she’s certainly found it now. Stone, who landed one high-profile comedy every year since Superbad — 2008′s The House Bunny, 2009′s Zombieland, and then irrevocably broke out with 2010′s Easy A, has been everywhere this summer, charming all the while. She’s brought her particular brand of husky-voiced good humor to three roles, a cameo in Friends with Benefits, a romance with Ryan Gosling in Crazy, Stupid, Love, and today’s conscientious drama The Help. At only 22, Stone already seems like a full-blown movie star: Can The Help do anything but help her cause? To get a sense of her esteem in Hollywood, we polled industry insiders and asked them one simple question: If Emma Stone were a stock, would you buy, sell, or hold?

Stock History: Let one impressed studio chief we spoke to detail Stone’s back story: “She told her mom when she was 15 years old that she was moving to L.A. to become an actress. Her parents believed in her so much that the mom moved her life out here, too, believing it was a matter of time.” The Stones ended up moving into short-term furnished rentals already filled with other families dipping a toe into the child-actor waters. “Most of those people come out because their kid is cute and has a few commercials,” noted the studio chief. “This was different: Her mom knew she was coming out and wasn’t buying a round-trip ticket, because she wasn’t coming back.”

Stone had some early near-misses with reality and TV stardom, that, in retrospect, kept her movie career on track. At age 15, she entered the unlikely VH1 reality competition In Search of the New Partridge Family and won the role of Laurie Partridge for a potential series remake that thankfully never advanced beyond the pilot stage. Two years later, she auditioned to play the cheerleader on Heroes, and found out that Hayden Panettiere got the part just before she went in to read, a moment she later called “rock bottom.”

But those years of relative obscurity worked in her favor, forcing her to try to make it in film, which she has obviously done. Since Superbad Stone has worked steadily, and crucially, in rowdy movies with boy appeal, not standard-issue romantic comedies. She’ll try to work the same magic in 2012, when she plays Gwen Stacy to Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker in the down-to-earth reboot The Amazing Spider-Man.

Peers: She’s at the head of a pack that includes established stars like Scarlett Johansson (26), Rachel McAdams (32), and Keira Knightley (26), as well as comers like Blake Lively (23), Olivia Wilde (27), and now Rooney Mara (25).

Market Value: Pretty decent. She’s had the luck of appearing in several successful comedies, and though Crazy, Stupid, Love wasn’t quite the box office sleeper the studio was hoping for, its ensemble nature will protect Stone from any dents. More importantly, she managed to open Easy A all by her lonesome, and its eventual $58 million gross left other female-targeted films in the dust, including Love and Other Drugs, Morning Glory, and the Katherine Heigl vehicles Life as We Know It and Killers. The Help will be the first movie since Easy A she’s had to open alone, but even if it doesn’t do that well, she’s got a safety net: a spider’s one.

What Hollywood Thinks: “She’s unbelievably versatile,” raved the studio chief. “She has dramatic chops and comedic chops. But more, she’s got enough tomboy in her that she seems like someone who’d have a good relationship with her brothers. And she’s ‘relatable’ – which means she doesn’t look like she wants to fuck your boyfriend.”

Added this studio mogul, “I think it says everything about her that she’s blonde naturally, but dyes her hair red: In a town where everyone wants to be blonde and be a girl named ‘Muffin,’ she doesn’t want to be ordinary.”

“She’s right at the top of her age group: She has the Spider-Man franchise now, and she seems to work in both comedy and drama,” said one agent we spoke to. “And she has, as they say, that ‘approachable’ beauty – sort of like Jen Aniston had in the early nineties — and is not intimidating, like, say, Megan Fox.”

Stone’s relative youth means that “she hasn’t had any of the inevitable ups and downs” and even though one may be coming in the oddly-timed release of The Help, she’s not likely to be hurt by it.

“Why the hell are they releasing The Help in August?” asks our agent, adding, “It’s very peculiar. But even if it gets lost, it probably won’t hurt her, because she has so many other slam-dunks in the can. She has to be one of the hottest actors in the business right now.”

Of course, that’s not to say things can’t go off the rails — after all, look what happened to Kirsten Dunst: “For young women it’s very, very competitive, more so than for men,” explains the agent, “There are so few rugged leading men, but the women, there’s a lot of them, and so the town is very unforgiving to women, while someone like Tom Hardy will get shot after shot after shot.” SMH there.

The Analysis: No matter how it does, a serious-issues drama like The Help is going to be an asset for Stone, coming along at just the right time to break her comic typecasting. Her next two projects will help expand the town’s perception of her: She just signed on to play the femme fatale caught between Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling in the period picture Gangster Squad, and even her love interest role in Spider-Man gives her room to stretch: When she was first cast in the then-secretive project, everyone assumed she’d be playing the confident, redheaded Mary Jane, in what seemed like a perfect pick. Instead, she’s playing gentle, blond Gwen Stacy, subtly tweaking our expectations of her.

“I think she’s doing everything right at the moment,” raved one top manager. “The Help has a weird release, but I hear it’s good, so hopefully it’ll stay with us into the fall. And there’s Gangster Squad, which is an interesting project. She has breadth. Maybe the next step is to engineer her own success and develop something for herself, attach herself as a producer, because any studio would make a movie with her now.”

The studio chief disagreed somewhat: “I don’t think she needs to develop her own stuff; I think that’s a different talent and one I’m not sure that she has. But she can make it just be being selective. She makes the smart choices and goes after them like nobody else; I mean, she went after Easy A like no one has ever gone after a role before.”

He added, “She has the ‘c’ word. With Sharon Stone, it means something else, but with Emma Stone, it means ‘charisma.’ There’s something so charismatic about her.”

The Bottom Line: And it’d be a shame to waste that charisma in supporting parts. Stone is smart to pick great ensembles to work with, and we’re looking forward to Spider-Man and Gangster Squad, but let’s hope she can find some 2013 projects where she gets to be the star, and not just the love interest.

Buy/Sell/Hold: Strongest Possible BUY.

Hundreds of curious onlookers and paying fans gathered to see “The Help” on Saturday, the story of a budding white journalist (Emma Stone) fresh out of Ole Miss (the University of Mississippi) in the early 1960s who convinces black maids Aibileen (Viola Davis) and Minny (Octavia Spencer) to risk their jobs and lives to give her a first-person account of domestic service.

Karen Evers was one of the fans who gladly handed over $100 for a ticket to Saturday’s benefit showing of “The Help” at the Malco Grandview theater in Madison, Miss.

The No. 1 New York Times best-seller by the same name was, in some ways, the University of Mississippi graduate’s story, too.

“We had help,” Evers, 49, said of growing up with a family maid in northeast Jackson. “We called her Jenny. She died of a stroke.”

“And it wasn’t until my adult years that I realized that not only was I grieving for my father, who had died, but for my help.”

More than $150,000 raised from ticket sales — the highest at $500 — benefits Baptist Town Community Development, said Bill Crump, a Baptist Town board member .

Baptist Town Community Development revitalizes the 100-year-old African-American neighborhood in Greenwood, Miss., known as Baptist Town. It was the setting for some scenes from “The Help.”

Kasie Wood, 28, of Columbus, Miss., brought friend Sarah Lambert, 29, of Jackson, Miss., to stand with her, camera in hand, just feet from the red carpet.

“We’re excited about Emma,” Lambert said of Stone, who plays heroine Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan. She enjoyed watching Stone as the female lead in “Easy A.”

“Many times,” Lambert said. “And ‘The House Bunny,’ and I’ve seen ‘Superbad.’”

She’s read the book by Jackson native Kathryn Stockett, a story praised for its candid portrayal of race relations during the civil rights era, but panned by some as resurrecting painful memories.

Many brought copies of the book in hopes of snagging autographs from the cast of the movie filmed both in Jackson and Greenwood.

They included Alfred Luckett, 45, a Jackson resident who snagged a part as an extra during filming in the city’s historic Fondren neighborhood. “I was a service station attendant. I did the windshields. I hope I’m not on the cutting room floor.”

Stone and most of the movie’s cast, save Bryce Dallas Howard, who plays the cruel socialite Hilly, and Sissy Spacek, in the role of Hilly’s ditzy, outspoken mother, attended the premiere in which about 1,110 fans and members of the media got a first look at “The Help.”

Actors spoke frankly of the movie in which the characters both challenged and clung to racist societal norms.

“It’s so hard for me to imagine living then,” Stone said.

But if she had, could she have mustered Skeeter’s courage?

“I’d like to know that I’d have that kind of bravery … I’d like to say I would, but I don’t know,” Stone said.

Said Davis: “I don’t feel very courageous in my life. … To me, I prefer the reluctant hero.”

Allison Janney, who as Skeeter’s mother Charlotte is hellbent on getting her daughter married, enjoyed playing :someone who’s a little obsessed.”

“I was intimidated by what Charlotte did,” Janney said. “I can’t imagine doing the same things she did — but I can understand the peer pressure.”

Before the screening, producer Chris Columbus reminded fans of the day’s purpose: raising money for a good cause.

“Guys, you made a dream come true today,” he said. “Thank you so much. We love you.”

The actress, who plays opposite Ryan Gosling in soon-to-be-released romcom “Crazy, Stupid, Love.”, reportedly got along so well with him that he offered her to reunite with him in the crime movie.

“From your lips to God’s ears! But I don’t think anything is official yet,” director Ruben Fleischer said of the rumor when being asked by Celebuzz at 2011 San Diego Comic-Con. When talking about the progress of the movie, he said, “We are in pre-production.”

“Gangstar Squad” is set in a chaotic and corrupt Los Angeles where gangsters are brazenly engaged in shootouts and drive-by shootings. To keep East Coast Mafia out of the city, LAPD formed an anti squad. Sean Penn, Josh Brolin and Michael Pena are confirmed to join Gosling in the cast ensemble.

While moviegoers have to wait at least until 2012 to see the gangster movie in theaters, it won’t be long for them to watch Gosling in his romantic comedy. The movie about the “Blue Valentine” actor dealing with marriage problems will arrive in the U.S. on July 29.

Actress Emma Stone has developed a special relationship with Sir Paul Mccartney after the Beatles legend designed the blackbird feet tattoo on her wrist.

The Easy A star admits she still can’t believe MCCartney knows her name – and has Woody Harrelson to thank for an introduction.

She explains, “Woody introduced me to Paul at the beginning of 2009. We went to dinner at his house. Then I wrote him a letter later in the year and he drew three different drawings of blackbird feet on the (reply) letter and my mom, my dad, my brother and I all have it tattooed on our wrist.

“My dad and I have it on our left wrists and my mom and my brother have it on their right wrists. It’s pretty cool.

“I look at it every day. Every time he sees it, he touches it and at the BaftAs, he kissed it. He’s the greatest guy.”

And now it’s her turn to introduce MCCartney to her celebrity friends – she took Crazy Stupid Love co-star Ryan Gosling to see the rocker at the Yankee Stadium in New York on Saturday night (16Jul11).

Stone tells BlogTalkRadio.com, “I’ve seen him multiple times and Ryan and I went to the concert the other night and we got to go backstage and hang out with Paul MCCartney and the tiny harmonica that he hides in his pocket. It was really great. The whole thing is surreal.”

Actress Emma Stone pulled out of plans to re-enact Jennifer Grey’s famous Dirty Dancing leap in her new movie – because bad memories from a childhood gym class prompted a panic attack on-set.

When film fans check out the scene in Crazy Stupid Love, it will look as if Ryan Gosling lifts the actress aloft – just like Patrick Swayze did in the classic romance – but Stone reveals that’s not her.

She tells BlogTalkRadio.com, “I had a panic attack so that was a stunt double from a distance. We tried a couple of times but it didn’t work out for me. Ryan didn’t do anything wrong. He thinks that I was afraid he was gonna drop me.

“When I was seven, I was in gymnastics class and I was standing on the parallel bars and the woman let go of my ankles and I fell forward and broke both of my arms on the mat. And I had this dormant primal fear I didn’t realise until he (Gosling) was lifting me over his head over the front and my arms immediately went, ‘No!’ My body knew that this could break your arms. I really had a full scale hour-long primal panic attack. It was bizarre.

“But they were so nice to me. One of the directors, Glenn Ficarra, and Ryan were sitting with me in a bed in the house we were shooting in rubbing my back like, ‘You’re alright, we’ll get the stunt double to do it.’”

The 22 year old enjoys creating sweet treats in her spare time, and she’s so taken by the hobby, she’s interested in learning more about the craft from people in the trade, according to Andrew Garfield, her co-star in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man.

Hollywood Is Her Oyster
The “Aren’t you the girl from Easy A?” days are over. Emma Stone is Hollywood’s summer sensation as she hits the screen in three big movies—The Help; Crazy, Stupid, Love; Friends with Benefits— not to mention next year’s Spider-Man film. But is there another 22-year-old actress so focused on staying fully clothed? Hanging out with Alexandra Wolfe, Stone shares her oyster-mania, her rock-bottom moment, and her strategy for avoiding the sexy trap.

Emma Stone was running down a dark, eerie hallway covered with cobwebs and stuffed buffalo heads while wearing a white Venetian mask. Hollywood’s hottest up-and-coming ingénue was not filming a movie scene but spending a Saturday night on West 27th Street in New York’s old McKittrick Hotel at a show called Sleep No More, an alternative-theater production loosely based on Shakespeare’s Macbeth that involves putting on a mask and following actors from room to room as they pantomime scenes from the Scottish Play. Along with the rest of the crowd—which that Saturday night in late May included Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, and Matt Damon—the wide-eyed actress followed a slew of half-nude, blood-spattered actors rifling through coffins and gyrating with androgynous forms atop aging pool tables.

Against the backdrop of pickled bones, scattered teeth, and detective photos of mangled corpses, even with her mask on, Stone, 22, stood out almost as much as she does in Hollywood. Unlike other actresses her age, she was fully clothed, wearing a long-sleeved nautical-striped T-shirt, skinny jeans, and black patent-leather flats. That night, standing in front of the naked chimera dancing in the strobe lights, Stone looked like Goldilocks stranded in a Stanley Kubrick movie.

Which is not to say she was afraid. Gazing at Stone’s fresh porcelain face, gaping green eyes, recently re-dyed red hair (after having gone back to her natural blond for Spider-Man), and willowy physique, I was struck by the impulse to shield her from the blood-spewing beasts and the sight of Lady Macbeth’s dying baby, but soon she was bounding down another passageway, toward another violent fight scene, and I was the one hiding behind her.

It’s still funny to me that Emma Stone could have been cheerleader Claire Bennet on “Heroes.” The part just wouldn’t have shown off her comedic chops. In fact, I think losing that part was the best thing that ever happened to her. Instead, Emma went the “Superbad” to “House Bunny” to “Easy A” route and is now poised to be one of the biggest stars of our generation. Sealing the deal? An offer has just been extended to her to play Elizabeth Bennet in the highly anticipated classic/zombie mash-up, “Pride, Prejudice and Zombies,” based on the best-selling book. Most predicted that the role would go either to heavy-hitters Natalie Portman or Scarlett Johansson. But we think Emma will be just perfect.

After the jump, more high-profile movies we will soon be seeing Emma Stone in.

“The Amazing Spider-Man.” Move over Mary Jane Watson. In the reboot of the spidey series, Emma will play Gwen Stacy opposite Andrew Garfield. According to the director, their chemistry is “stunning” and she was the “clear choice” for the role.
“Crazy, Stupid, Love.” Back in March, Emma landed this role opposite Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling. In the flick, Steve has just been left by his wife for another man and is determined to learn how to be better with the ladies. Emma plays his daughter, who is being courted by Ryan. If only we all could be so lucky.
“The Help.” Set in 1960s Mississipi, Emma plays a just-graduated writer who begins to interview with black women of her town to tell their story. Apparently, we’ll get to hear her Southern accent.
“Friends with Benefits.” Yep, you will be able to catch Emma in the Justin Timberlake/Mila Kunis screw-fest.
“Movie 43.” Should we be surprised that the Farrelly brothers love Emma? She will be in their upcoming “Movie 43,” a series of short films starring the likes of Kate Winslet, Gerard Butler, and Halle Berry. Her short is called “Veronica.”

14. EMMA STONE

Age: 22
2010 Ranking: 18

Credits: Zombieland; Superbad, Easy A, Crazy, Stupid, Love

‘Jules’ in Superbad, Emma Stone has established her credentials in a string of comedies, good, bad and indifferent. There was The Rocker, The House Bunny, and Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past – and (the good), there was Zombieland and Easy A, the best showcase yet for her sardonic, spunky shtick. More comedic roles are in the pipeline, including the promising Crazy Stupid Love, with Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling, Friends with Benefits, and Movie 43. All that, plus Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man. Incidentally, word is she’s really a blonde, Judd Apatow suggested she go red for Superbad and the look stuck.

“And I sucked my thumb until I was 11, so I had this expander in,” the 22-year-old Stone tells Elle in its July issue.

“I was a good-looking kid,” the “Easy A” star jokes. “I never felt, like, dorky. I was just like, ‘Yup, these are my braces. I’ve had them forever.’ ”

She went back to blond for her role in the upcoming “Amazing Spider-Man” opposite Andrew Garfield, but she tells Elle her life didn’t get that much more anonymous.

“I mean, I haven’t been around very long,” she says. “I can’t expect everyone to have seen ‘The House Bunny.’ ”

Many celebrity relationships end with a “split,” but rising star Emma Stone says she’s optimistic that they can last. But don’t expect to be reading much about her love life in the future!

Emma is the July cover star of Elle magazine and opening up what she looked like before she was a big star and how her career has taken off! But she won’t open up much about her love life!

The actress wouldn’t talk about her former boyfriend, Kieran Culkin, explaining “You have to keep some things sacred…”

But Emma will say she doesn’t believe celebrity relationships have a shorter shelf life.

“I don’t think that’s true. Maybe,” Emma says. “But there’s a fair amount that do work….I’m optimistic.”

And why shouldn’t she be optimistic, she’s already made her career work out so why not her love life too?

“It’s so funny how different life could have been,” Emma tells Elle. “I went to so many auditions. I remember my audition for Heroes. I went in right after Hayden Panettiere. Now here we are in this rented house. It feels like it just happened.”

Emma Stone was all over the place at last night’s MTV Movie Awards — and yet you can still be forgiven for not being sure who she is.

By the end of the summer, that won’t be as excusable.

Stone is tasked with carrying three giant studio warm-weather releases this year.

She has a supporting role in July’s “Friends With Benefits,” the no-strings sex comedy starring Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake.

(It’s so similar to Natalie Portman’s “No Strings Attached,” we can’t succinctly describe it without invoking the whole title.)

And much like Portland’s take, “Friends” will rely on a wisecracking ensemble to rally around the main characters and keep the movie likable.

The fact that Stone has been cast in that pack (alongside Patricia Clarkson and Andy Samberg) points to exactly what producers and studios see in her.

Thus far (in films like “Superbad” and “Easy A”), Stone has proven herself as a pretty face who can nail a punchline.

She also can’t be mistaken for an accidental actress — Stone lusted after stardom hard enough to audition for a short-lived VH1 reality pilot that purported to cast a new “Partridge Family.” The show never went to series.

But Stone soared anyway — and continues to rise.

After “Friends,” she co-headlines Steve Carell’s first post-”Office” pic, “Crazy, Stupid, Love,” out July 29.

And her biggest role to date — the one that will force you to learn her name — bows in August. Stone plays the lead in the movie version of Kathryn Stockett’s bestseller The Help.

It’s a job that just might vault her from MTV’s golden-popcorn ceremonies to the grown-up award circuit.

As the summer movie season rolls along and most of us anticipate films like Super 8, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Cowboys and Aliens, Entertainment Weekly suggests the movie of the summer might be Crazy, Stupid, Love. Yes, the cheesy looking romantic comedy starring Steve Carell as a newly single man who splits with his wife (Julianne Moore) and attempts to reenter the dating scene with the help of womanizer Ryan Gosling, who himself falls for a girl played by Emma Stone. That movie. In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, the film is widely praised with the headline “Best Romantic Comedy Ever Made (Recently)” and is favorably compared to Jerry Maguire and About a Boy. Read some of the quotes after the jump.

The article (which is not yet online) appears in the June 3/10 issue of Entertainment Weekly (with Jason Bateman on the cover) and was written by EW Executive Editor Jeff Giles. Giles says that while the full reviews won’t run until closer to the July 29 release date “EW staffers already feel evangelical about the movie” and that a made-up tagline like “It’s better than everything else. No, shut up, it is” would be appropriate to describe it.

From the trailer, it seems pretty obvious what’s going to happen. As Carell’s character becomes more like Gosling, Gosling becomes more like Carell and the pair realize only the girls in question can make them happy. But is that it?

In the article, Giles agrees with producer Denise Di Novi’s sentiment that Crazy, Stupid, Love is “kind of Richard Curtis and Jim Brooks smooshed together with Cameron Crowe” and that it has much in common with Jerry Maguire and About a Boy, two films with straight-forward romantic stories that have way more heart than the usual fare.

Carell’s acting is praised (“the lonely center around which a funny and touching constellation of love stories revolves”) along with Gosling’s abs (and “sly comedy) as well as Emma Stone’s charisma as the object of Gosling’s affections. The on-screen chemistry, especially in an improvised bedroom scene between Gosling and Stone, is also highlighted as a reason why the film works so well. “You get the sense even the actors are surprised by the variety of sparks flying,” Giles writes.

Finally, the article ends with the sentiment that while the trailer is amusing and looks predictable, the film goes beyond that”

Crazy, Stupid, Love is a keeper, and it says something true and complicated about love.

She might have been Spider-Man’s first love, but it’s taken an awfully long time for Gwen Stacy to get some time in the live-action spotlight. Spider-fans’ patience appears to be paying off, however, as the platinum-blonde girl who steals Peter Parker’s heart will finally be the leading lady in Sony’s upcoming franchise reboot, “The Amazing Spider-Man.”

Of course, “Amazing Spider-Man” actress Emma Stone won’t be the first to play Gwen Stacy on the big screen. That honor goes to Bryce Dallas Howard, who portrayed Gwen Stacy in 2007′s “Spider-Man 3.” With both actresses appearing in the upcoming film “The Help,” MTV News made sure to ask Howard about the weird convergence of roles.

“I loved doing ['Spider-Man 3'],” said Howard. “I was only involved in one of the Spider-Man films and hoped to be in more, but I also understood that whatever choices they were going to make about the project were going to be right and good for the franchise.”

“When I heard about what they were going to do, I thought that was kind of an inspired incarnation,” she continued. “It’s going to be brilliant. And when I heard that Emma was going to be Gwen Stacy, I thought it was perfect.”

Howard didn’t shy away from making bold predictions about Stone’s portrayal of the character, either. “I admire [Emma's] talent so much, and she’s going to kick my butt,” she laughed.

“The Amazing Spider-Man” is scheduled for a July 2012 release.

The majority of you were loving Emma Stone’s style last night at the Golden Globes, and here’s the scoop on how you can get both the hair and makeup looks. For the makeup, Mark celebrity makeup artist Mai Quynh was inspired by Emma’s structured Calvin Klein dress.

Start by dusting on Mark Pro Bronzing Powder in Pro Glow ($10) to the cheeks, forehead, and chin, followed by Good Glowing Blush in After Glo ($8) on the cheeks. For the eyes, use the following eye shadow shades ($5 each): Biscotti on the inner lids, Gioia on the middle and outer lids from the lash lines to the creases (and smudged on the lower lash lines), and Java as an eyeliner. Top off with Lipclick Lipstick in Bare Hug ($10). As for the hair, Tresemmé celebrity stylist Mara Roszak chose a chic and elegant bun for Emma. See how to do it when you keep reading.

Mara started by applying Tresemmé’s Fresh Start No Frizz Créme ($5) to damp hair.

Next she blow-dried Emma’s hair, using a round brush to sweep the hair away from the face. She followed by teasing the hair, smoothing it with a comb, and placing it into a mid-height ponytail.

She then divided the pony in half, twisting the two halves around each other. She finished the style off by firmly holding the ends, wrapping the twisted hair into a bun, pinning to secure.

When it comes to figures, Jennifer Aniston’s is pretty flawless. But for those looking for some help from the scalpel, long, lean and supermodel-y beat out the petite “girl-next-door” look in 2010.

Aniston came in second for the “Most Desired Female Body” on the 14th Annual “Famed Hottest Looks” survey, compiled by Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeons Dr. Richard Fleming and Dr. Toby Mayer.

Even after giving birth in December 2009, Brazilian-born supermodel Gisele Bundchen was the most requested body by the doctors’ patients.

“Different body types are represented on the list because most women are shaped differently and want to look naturally beautiful,” explained Dr. Fleming. “Some women want the lean look like Gisele, while others want to retain their roundness – just not too round. Men, on the other hand, all want a six-pack regardless of their body type.”

On that note, Mark Wahlberg took the top spot, pursued by six-packing Channing Tatum and Tyson Beckford.

Aniston came in second again in the category of “Most Desired Hair” (first was country crooner Taylor Swift, third was reality starlet Kim Kardashian) and when it came to schnozzes, Natalie Portman was 2010’s winner, followed closely by Emma Stone and category veteran Nicole Kidman.

In the lips category, Angelina Jolie came in second for the first time in quite some time. The Oscar-winning beauty, famous for her plump pout, was stopped by 26-year-old, newly single, Scarlett Johansson.

The docs said in 2010, keeping it real was the top priority for those seeking artificial enhancements.

“The biggest trend we have seen this year is that patients are requesting a more natural look. If you review the names on the list, you will notice that all of those people look naturally beautiful,” added Mayer. “We have been performing plastic surgery for 35 years and after 35 years of stressing the non-surgical look, our list reflects non-surgical looking people.”

NOSE
Emma Stone

While Taylor Swift admits it’s hard for the gang to get together, she knows the importance of having good friends. “That sounds like such a fun group to hang out with,” said one Cleveland resident.

“In my circle of friends I have Emma Stone, Selena Gomez — she’s like my little sister — Hayley Williams and my best friend Abigail from high school,” said Taylor. “We all have crazy schedules but we make our time together count and laugh and have hilarious dinners. Young breakout stars took the movie world by storm in films such as “The Social Network,” “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Karate Kid.” And, even if their film wasn’t the biggest box office it, the young leads of “Let Me In,” “Kick-Ass” and “Winter’s Bone” left fond memories in everyone’s minds that seems to bode well for their careers.

With the New Year right around the corner, we decided to celebrate the 10 biggest breakout stars of 2010, reflecting on the films that tossed them into the spotlight and looking forward to what they have coming up next.

Emma Stone
Breakout Role: Emma Stone was already beloved for her supporting roles in “Superbad” and “Zombieland” by the time “Easy A” came out, but in “Easy A” she proved that she’s got the right stuff to be a leading lady. The film was both a critical and box office success, and Stone has since been tapped to star in a whole bunch of other big projects.
Why She’ll Stick Around: Just like Garfield, Stone is set to star in the “Spider-Man” reboot. She’ll play Parker’s love interest Gwen Stacy. She’s also starring in the upcoming adaptation of the Oprah-endorsed novel “The Help” and has supporting roles in “Crazy, Stupid, Love” and “Friends With Benefits.”

Emma Stone has revealed that she will not train on set with actor Andrew Garfield.

Stone, who plays Gwen Stacy in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot, spoke to Jay Leno about her workout schedule on the movie, admitting her refusal to train with her co-star Garfield, who plays the web-slinging superhero.

“The other day, after work, I was supposed to work out with our trainer and Andrew said, ‘Would it be okay if I worked out with you guys?’ And I was like, ‘No, that would not be okay’,” said Stone.

She continued: “He said, ‘Why? It’ll be a bonding experience’. And I was like, ‘Because you can lift a car and I am a weakling beyond belief’. So, it’s pretty brutal; we’re on two completely different ends of the spectrum.”

Stone also revealed that there may be more than one Spider-Man movie in the works.

“There’s a few Spider-Men [movies], so I may have to keep [my blonde hair] for a couple of years,” the actress declared.

Emma Stone burst in to the movie scene as Jules in “Superbad.” Since then, the red-haired beauty has starred in the surprise hit “Zombieland” and “Easy A.” With many upcoming movies, including her role as Gwen Stacy in the new Spiderman reboot, Emma Stone is one busy actress.

She has also started receiving recognition for her hard work. For her role in “Easy A,” Emma Stone has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award. Stone is the youngest star nominated in the 2011 Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical category. It is her first Golden Globe nomination.

Born in Arizona, Emma Stone knew early on that she wanted to be an actress. At the age of 15, Stone convinced her parents to allow her to move to Hollywood and pursue a career. After landing numerous television spots, Emma went on to the movies. In a very short amount of time, her career has taken off!

Why Should Emma Stone Win the Golden Globe?

Performance
“Easy A” is a hilarious film. What could have been another run-of-the mill high school comedy “Easy A” is taken to another level by Emma Stone’s acting . She really stands out and catapults the comedy to another level. In her role as Olive, a straight-laced student taking advantage of a rumor about the loss of her virginity, Emma Stone gives a star performance.

Talent
In a very short amount of time, Emma Stone has made her place in Hollywood. In every role she has played, Stone has stole all of her scenes. Not only is she extremely likable on camera, but she has perfect comedic timing and awareness. Emma Stone possesses an amazing amount of talent and she deserves recognition for her acting ability.

So will Emma Stone win the Best Actress Golden Globe award? It is a tough call. The category is full of deserving, talented women. Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, Angelina Jolie, and Anne Hathaway are all nominated as well. Even if Emma doesn’t win the award, she is well deserving of the nomination and definitely a new female force in Hollywood.

The Golden Globes award show will air on Sunday, January 19, 2011 starting at 8:00 EST.

How she got here: Stone’s first gig, a 2007 TV show called “Drive,” ran out of gas after just four episodes. But the setback didn’t keep her off the career fast track. Soon after, she co-starred in “Superbad” as Jonah Hill’s love interest and then played backup to Anna Faris in the nerd makeover movie “House Bunny.” Her undead road-trip comedy “Zombieland” became an instant cult classic, but it wasn’t until her turn as a virgin who pretends to sleep with her high school classmates in “Easy A” that she gained major recognition. The rising star nabbed a Golden Globe nomination for best actress in a comedy or musical.

Where she’s headed: There’s a lot of romance in Stone’s future, at least on the big screen. Her most high-profile fling? As Spidey’s girlfriend in the new ” Spider-Man” reboot. She’s also bound to have a run-in with Ryan Gosling and his wingman Steve Carell in “Crazy, Stupid, Love,” and we can’t imagine the trouble she’ll get into in “Friends With Benefits.”

What she has to say: “I pushed pretty hard to be the first audition,” Stone says of “Easy A.” “I was like, ‘Please? Can I just go?’ …It’s such a great part. And it’s so rare that you find that well written and that well formed of a character as a girl in a comedy.”

Breakout Moment: “Easy A”

Emma Stone had a bit of a breakout moment in 2009′s “Zombieland”, but it’s with “Easy A” that she truly made the world sit up and pay attention, and not just at the lingerie-clad musical number she performs at the movie’s climax. Not only was “Easy A” one of the biggest hits of 2010, in the film, Stone exuded pitch-perfect comedic timing, confidence, grace and charisma to the extent that had more than one critic saying her name in conjunction with the word Oscar, a feat nearly unheard of with female-centric teen comedies since Reese Witherspoon’s Tracy Flick in “Election”. However, she did snag a well-deserved Golden Globe nomination just this morning, and she’ll have another serious shot at Oscar next year when she goes dramatic as the lead in “The Help”, based on the civil rights era set bestseller by Kathryn Stockett. Oh, did we forget to mention she’ll play Gwen Stacy opposite Garfield in 2012′s “Spider-Man”?

EMMA Stone is nervous about her role in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot film.

The Easy A actress will star in the film opposite Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man’s primary love interest, Gwen Stacy.

“The way I have to approach it, and I think Andrew [Garfield] would agree, is just like any other movie,” she said. “I’ll probably feel different when we start to do press.

“The approach I’m trying to take so I won’t psych myself out is to approach it like anything else, put the same amount of work in, and don’t worry so much.”

The currently-untitled Spider-Man film is scheduled to be released in cinemas in 3D on July 3, 2012.

Emma — who convinced her mother to move with her to Hollywood when she was just 15 — recently admitted she used to have a “little mental breakdown” when she lost out on a movie role.

“It was a strange and pretty isolated experience at first. Every time I’d get turned down at an audition I’d have a little mental breakdown, but it all ended up working out alright,” she said.

Emma — who is naturally blonde — has said she dyed her hair red because she convinced her locks were holding her back.

“In my mind, I’m a redhead so I don’t mind paying homage to the redheads of the world,” she said.

As MTV News’ Thankful Week draws to a close, we begin to cast our gaze away from the big screen and towards tables soon to be the scene of turkey-crazed feasts. But we have one last honor to bestow: the actress we’re most thankful for in 2010.

The winner is none other than Emma Stone, a move that completes a nifty “Spider-Man” double win, as we also honored Andrew Garfield — who’s stepping into the role of Peter Parker — as the actor we’re most thankful for this year. Stone won the part of Gwen Stacy in October, capping a stellar year for the 22-year-old.

From the top-notch teenage rom-com “Easy A” to her “Saturday Night Live” hosting gig to the opportunity to shoot flicks opposite the likes of Steve Carell (“Crazy, Stupid, Love”) and Justin Timberlake (“Friends With Benefits”), Stone was already having a great 2010. Then “Spider-Man” director Marc Webb came calling. Her life is never going to be the same — and she couldn’t be more excited.

The always-energetic actress called up MTV News in the midst of “Spider-Man” preproduction to talk about what a surreal year it’s been and how she’s dealing with the pressures of taking on the iconic Marvel series.

MTV: Thanks for calling up to chat.

Emma Stone: Thank you for having me!

MTV: Well, you’re going to be very excited in a second.

Stone: What is it? What’s it going to be? You like how I’m excited at the mere mention that I’m going to be excited?

MTV: Uh-oh, I really have to come through now. Look out your window — there’s a blimp with your face on it!

Stone: Oh my god, it’s so beautiful, I’m looking right now! You wanna know what’s really insane about that? I actually pulled back the curtain and looked at the sky.

MTV: I’m sorry to disappoint, but I can tell you that every year we honor various people we’re thankful for, and this year you’re the woman we’re most thankful for.

Stone: Oh my god, shut up! Get out of here! I prepared a 10-minute speech, is that OK?

MTV: I’m afraid we don’t have enough time. You know, the man we’re most thankful for this year is your “Spider-Man” co-star Andrew Garfield.

Stone: Hey, I know that guy! We’ve met. He’s the worst!

MTV: I won’t tell him you said that. It has been quite a year for you. “Easy A” gets a great reaction, you’re shooting movies with people like Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling, you host “Saturday Night Live,” and then you land “Spider-Man.” Does 2010 feel like a landmark year?

Stone: It feels kind of scary saying this because that means it’s only downhill, but it’s been the best year of my life. Not just with how lucky I’ve been work-wise, but with my family and friends. I’m totally terrified for 2011. I have such a disaster mentality, it’s not even funny.

MTV: Which raises the question, are you ready for something as big as “Spider-Man”? Can you ever be ready for something like that?

Stone: The way I have to approach it, and I think Andrew would agree, is just like any other movie. You’re going to put the same amount of focus into this that you would with anything. It just happens to be an exponentially bigger budget. So there’s that. It’ll probably feel different when we start to do press, but we won’t have to deal with that for another year and a half. And there are harnesses I’m going to have to use in this one. That’s the only difference: just the harnesses.

MTV: Seriously, though, it’s been quite a year for you with on-screen love interests. The women in the office are jealous — Penn Badgley, Timberlake, Gosling, Garfield. You’re a lucky woman …

Stone: What can I say? You cannot compare them. They are so wonderful in their own ways. Again, it’s been an amazing year.

MTV: Has there been one surreal point in particular that kind of encapsulates 2010 for you?

Stone: Hosting “Saturday Night Live.” That’s always been my ultimate dream. That moment before you come out those doors when Don Pardo says your name and you’re standing there … I had never let myself imagine what that would feel like. That moment when you walk through those doors was probably the most surreal moment, not just of this year, but ever.

MTV: So you guys are in rehearsals for “Spider-Man,” right? What is that process like at this point?

Stone: Today I went and did hair tests, because I have blonde hair now since Gwen has blonde hair. My natural hair is blonde, so it’s kind of nice. I looked in the mirror and said, “Oh my god, it’s me again, it’s been so long!” We’re finalizing the visual stuff. And I think we’ll start actually rehearsing, because we start shooting in two weeks. Andrew and I went and learned about science yesterday. Gwen really likes science, so we learned about science. I was home-schooled, so I never went to chemistry class in a traditional setting like Gwen is into. That was really beneficial.

MTV: There seemed to be so much competition for the role of Gwen Stacy. Do you ever think, “Why me?” What do you think won you the part?

Stone: I ask myself that question every day. I have no f—ing idea. It’s the most amazing idea, I can’t even tell you. I don’t think I ever will figure out how it happened. It’s been mind-blowing. I know things will eventually change, so I’m just trying to avoid thinking about it and just enjoy it while it’s happening. Ugh, what am I even saying? Don’t write any of that down!

Despite all the hype and hoopla surrounding the Marc Webb-directed “Spider-Man” reboot, a part of me is still sad about all that went down with Sam Raimi. Don’t get me wrong, I’m intrigued by what Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone will bring to the mix, but a large part of me won’t let go of Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker — and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, for that matter.

When MTV News caught up with the former Ms. MJ recently to promote her new movie “All Good Things,” I couldn’t help but ask what her advice would be for the new Spidey leading lady, Emma Stone, as well as her thoughts on Sony moving on with the franchise without Raimi and Maguire.

“Get used to acting to nothing,” advised Dunst, laughing. “[There is] a lot of that. Swinging, and acting to nothing.”

With the upcoming movie focusing on Peter Parker’s relationship with his first love, Gwen Stacy, is Dunst sad that MJ won’t be a part of the new film?

“No. I mean, I think for all of us those three movies were so special in all or our lives and I think three is a good number to go out on,” she said.

And though I suppose she’s right, I’m probably not alone in wondering if “Spider-Man 3″ was the right film to end Raimi’s “Spider-Man” story.

Nevertheless, there are plenty of things to be excited about with the reboot, and most of them have to do with the ever-growing cast: Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans as an unnamed villain who may or may not be The Lizard, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, and Sally Field as Aunt May. There’s also Denis Leary, who was recently added to the roster in the role of Gwen’s dad, George Stacy.

LF: It’s great news that you’ll be starring in Spider-Man, how does it feel to be part of something so huge?

ES: I’m so excited, it’s going to be a crazy re-imagining and it’s going to be a lot of fun. It starts soon so I’m really looking forward to it.

It seems like everything is in place and just castings for minor roles are only the last thing left before they begin shooting the film. I hope you all are as excited as me to see this new chapter in Spider-Man films.

Emma Stone used to have a “little mental breakdown” whenever she didn’t win a movie role.

The actress convinced her mother to move with her to Hollywood when she was just 15, as she was desperate to kick-start her film career. It wasn’t all she had hoped for though, as she found it difficult to win parts. Emma admits the experience was hard, and she initially struggled with rejection.

“It was a strange and pretty isolated experience at first. Every time I’d get turned down at an audition I’d have a little mental breakdown, but it all ended up working out alright,” she explained.

Emma is naturally blonde, but dyed her hair after becoming convinced her tresses were holding her back. She has no problem with keeping her new look up, explaining she always felt like her real locks didn’t suit her personality.

“In my mind, I’m a redhead so I don’t mind paying homage to the redheads of the world,” she laughed to Look magazine.

Emma Stone took her first shot at hosting “Saturday Night Live” this week. The “Easy A” star didn’t hit on every sketch she was in, but we give her a solid B+ for the episode.

Here’s a rundown of the highlights (we’ll supply video when it becomes available).

The Monologue

Audience-participation monologues are pretty reliable for laughs on “SNL,” and Stone did well with hers. After explaining how she started pursuing her acting dream as a teenager (all of seven years ago), she noted that being in movies like “Superbad” and “Zombieland” attracts a certain kind of fan. Cue several nerded-up male cast members in the audience asking questions, with the answer to all of them being, “No, I won’t make out with you.” Also? Having Bobby Moynihan and Taran Killam play “Superbad” stars Jonah Hill and Michael Cera was a stroke of genius.

“Dream Home Extreme”/”Channel 9 News”

Nothing much to see here. In the first sketch, Stone plays the very underwhelmed winner of an HGTV contest and Kristen Wiig doing her over-excited bit, this time with a Southern accent. The news sketch has leering reporter Bill Hader uncovering all sorts of fake-scary teen trends and Stone not buying a single word of it.

Digital short

It started off as just a funny bit about Stone’s high-school girl repeatedly slipping on a blob of grape jelly — then it took a turn for the extremely weird when the grape jelly (as personified by Andy Samberg) answered. Deeply weird, but in a good way.

“The View”

We didn’t really laugh, but at least it took advantage of Stone’s uncanny resemblance to Lindsay Lohan by having her actually play LiLo. (Side note: Why is it that Fred Armisen looks his most masculine when he’s playing Joy Behar?)

“Les jeunes de Paris”

We’re not entirely sure how this post-”Weekend Update” sketch made it on the air, as it was performed entirely in French and consisted mostly of a danceoff between Stone and Killam. But we’re kind of glad it did make the cut — it was goofy and loose and just sort of fun to watch.

Other bits

The show had two very funny filmed bits: the ads for Baby Spanx and Brett Favre’s open-fly jeans (“it’s always camera-ready”). “Weekend Update” was hit and miss as usual, but watching Hader (as city correspondent Stefon) try not to crack up while describing New York’s hottest clubs was pretty great. And we expect to incorporate the phrase “stank basket” into regular conversation, thanks to the late-in-the-show Googie Rene sketch.

“SNL” has been up and down this season, but Stone was a pretty strong host, musical guest Kings of Leon sounded clear and strong in their two songs and the non-host material was pretty strong as well. We’re chalking it up as one of the show’s better efforts so far this season.

The actress — who recently landed the role of Spider-Man’s new love interest — says she dyed her hair dark because she sick of playing ditzy cheerleaders.

“When I first moved to LA, I had this agent who thought, because I was blonde, that I only wanted to play cheerleaders,” Emma said.

“So she’d send me out for all these parts where they thought: ‘What a weird 15-year-old. It’s not going to work out!’

“I don’t know if anyone necessarily underestimated me as a blonde — I think I just had a crappy agent.

“So one day, in a fit of trying to do something different, I just dyed my hair dark brown and got my first role a week later, after which I thought: ‘People are close-minded, man! Like a different hair color changes everything!’”

Emma recently revealed that she wants the tabloids to start writing stories about her life.

“I haven’t really heard any [rumors about me], but I keep encouraging people to please make some up,” she said.

“They are always so much better than the truth.”

It has been a busy year for Emma Stone.

After the unanticipated success of Screen Gems’ little-engine-that-could “Easy A,” Stone snagged the lead role in the adaptation of Kathryn Stockett’s novel, “The Help,” followed shortly by signing on to the “Spider-Man” reboot opposite fall’s other hot commodity, Andrew Garfield (“The Social Network”).

And what’s the No. 1 sign that you’ve really made it? Being invited to host NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”

“It’s the greatest week of my life,” Stone told THR. “I’m beyond beside myself. This is my biggest dream. This alone … this week!”

The 21-year-old actress — known mostly for her comedic timing — is already in rehearsals for “SNL’s” Oct. 23 episode, with musical guest Kings of Leon.

“Monday was just a pitch meeting, which is really short and it feels like unfinished business, but I’m so insanely happy,” she said. “I think the cast is so great right now, but I’m really excited to [work with] Kristen Wiig, because she’s such a genius, and she’s a woman. I’m freaking out!”

“SNL” was a childhood staple for the Arizona native, who spent her teen years performing in an improv and sketch comedy group.

Nerves aside, Stone is ready for her live performance: “For as long as I can remember this has been my No. 1 dream,” she said. “I’m just trying to enjoy it while it’s happening.”

Emma Stone has revealed that she considers hosting this weekend’s Saturday Night Live to be the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.

Speaking to Access Hollywood, Stone declared that she cannot wait to take the stage at Studio 8H on Saturday night.

“This is my biggest dream in my entire life, so this is the best week ever,” she commented. “[I'm] just excited, really, really beside myself… When I found out, I cried on the floor for a while.

“I’m sure I’ll be nervous on Saturday big time, but for now, I’m just really excited.”

The Easy A actress also admitted that she asked frequent SNL host Justin Timberlake for advice on how to handle her debut on the comedy series.

“I told him I thought I was going to cry through the entire monologue and he said, ‘Well, if you want to. Just make it funny’. I was like, ‘That helps very much’,” she said.

Stone will be joined by musical guests Kings of Leon on this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live on NBC.

Emma Stone burst on the scene back in 2007 with comedy Superbad and is now one of the most in demand young actresses currently working in Hollywood.

And she is back on the big screen this week with her new movie Easy A, which sees her star alongside Thomas Hayden church, Patricia Clarkson and Stanley Tucci.

After being a member of the Valley Youth Theatre group while she was growing up in Scottsdale and moved to LA at the age of fifteen to launch her acting career.

And it was in TV where she found her first break after winning the chance to take on the role of Laurie Partridge in The New Partridge Family in 2005.

But when the show on produced a pilot episode she went on to work on Medium and Malcolm In the Middle before landing the role of Violet Trimble in Drive.

She made her big screen debut in 2007 when she starred in Superbad alongside Michael Cera, Jonah Hill and Christopher Mintz Plasse.

She took on the role of Jules in the movie and Superbad when on to be a huge critical hit and grossed over $169 million at the box office, not bad for a movie made for $20 million.

And she stayed in comedy for her next couple of projects as she starred alongside Rainn Wilson in The Rocker before going on to The House Bunny with Anna Faris.

Roles in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and Paper Man followed until last year when she starred alongside Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Abigail Breslin in comedy hit Zombieland.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer the zombie killing comedy was the movie that proved to be the breakout project for the actress as it went on to top the U.S. box office.

Winning over the critics and cinema audiences the movie took over $102 million worldwide and was the biggest grossing zombie movie in history at the U.S. box office.

This summer saw her voice at least on the big screen as she voiced the character of Mazie in Marmaduke. But this week she is back with Easy A.

High school student Olive Penderghast (Emma Stone) finds herself the victim of her school’s “rumour mill” when she lies to her best friend Rhiannon (Alyson Michalka) about a weekend tryst with a fictional college freshman.

Word quickly spreads of Olive’s promiscuity and, much to her surprise, she welcomes the attention.

When she agrees to help out a bullied friend by pretending to sleep with him, her image rapidly degrades to a more lascivious state and her world begins to spin out of control.

And Stone has a whole host of projects in the pipeline over the next couple of years. She has already completed work on Crazy, Stupid Love, which also stars Ryan Gosling, Friends With Benefits with Mila Kunis and Woody Harrelson, The Help and The Croods.

She has recently been cast in the new Spider Man reboot, which sees Andrew Garfield in the central role, and she will also star in 21 Jump Street.

In a year of big deals for Emma Stone, it’s a safe bet that this week is the biggest. As you read this, the white-hot actress is most likely at 30 Rockefeller Center rehearsing for her hosting gig on this weekend’s SNL. How, you might ask, is that a bigger deal than starring in the number one movie in the country (Easy A) or landing one of the most coveted female roles in Hollywood (Gwen Stacy in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot)? For this, we direct your attention to an interview we conducted with the then up-and-coming actress almost exactly a year ago today. She told us about her dream job, and how she doubted she would ever get it. So what was it?

If you guessed hosting SNL, then congrats. Before this week, Stone didn’t just want to do SNL, she longed for it. Have a look:

You said you usually played girls, and this is the first time you’ve played woman. What makes her woman?
Well, she’s not in high school, which is a big leap. I don’t know how people can pass me off as sixteen and seventeen year-olds still. I conceivably do not—like with the way I live my life, I’m like, “How the fuck am I playing in high school still?” I went back to high school for my next film Easy A, so I’ll milk that as long as I can. I have like no goal, is that weird? Other than SNL, I have absolutely no goal.

    You want to do SNL?
Don’t start me on that. It’s a dream, it’s a dream of life.

Why don’t you make that happen?
I don’t know, it’s not gonna happen. Whatever, it’s fine. It’s fine, its nothing. It’s just, no, it’s not even like—it’s like, if that ever happened then I wouldn’t have anything to dream about, and then it would all be pointless.

Why don’t you quit movies and try and become a cast member on SNL? Would you rather do that than movies?
Stop it. That’s my dream. I would rather do that than anything in the world.

    Wow, I had no idea.
Yeah, I mean I’m insanely crazy about Kristen Wiig and I’m so jealous of Abby Elliott it’s not even funny. She’s the youngest woman that’s ever been on SNL. She’s twenty one, so we’re like the same age.

So there you go. Is there anyone on the planet right now happier than Emma Stone? Other than this guy, probably not. So congratulations, Ms. Stone, for achieving your life’s goal, because not many people get to live their dreams. And for anyone who doubts Stone will do anything other than kill it this weekend, have a look at the promos she shot with Andy Samberg. They’re pretty genius.

Emma Stone is helping her mom celebrate being cancer-free in an unusual way: they’re getting matching wrist tattoos!

“We’ve never gotten tattoos before and probably never will again,” the actress told David Letterman on Thursday. “Two years ago tomorrow she got diagnosed with breast cancer, and she’s out of the woods now, which is amazing.”

According to Stone, the tattoos will be anything but ordinary — because they’re designed by a former Beatle!

“My mom’s favorite song is ‘Blackbird’ by Paul McCartney, and it’s my favorite song as well,” she explained. “I wrote a letter to Paul McCartney asking him if he would draw two little bird feet — because he wrote the song — and yesterday he sent them to me.”

Stone previously met the rock legend, 68, when she visited his house with her Zombieland costar Woody Harrelson.

“We went into Paul McCartney’s house and he made us veggie burgers,” she recalled. “It was so good. But can you imagine if I was like, ‘Well, the burgers were a little [overcooked]?’

Stone admitted she still can’t believe the musician came through for her.

“Custom tattoos by Paul McCartney. Isn’t that wild?” she said. “He’s a good guy.”

Although we love you to death and enjoy your work, your fame seems to be more of a trend then the real deal. Here are a few young and golden stars who we think will remain on top for a long time. We consider these young talents Hollywood’s Golden Stars.

Emma Stone – Not only is Emma gorgeous and talented, but she has replaced the Lindsay Lohan we all hoped to like as an adult. You know, the red hair, freckles, raspy voice and natural talent. Emma’s latest movie, Easy A proved to her fans that she has the staying power of a true Hollywood Icon. The twenty-two year old Arizona native’s resume keeps getting fatter and fatter as she is set to star in the latest Spiderman installment next year.

“She’s like Gwen Stacy 2.0!” Bryce told Access Hollywood over the weekend at the “Hereafter” junket when asked about Emma’s recent casting as the web-slinger’s love interest in the upcoming “Spider-Man” reboot.

“Faster, funnier, sexier – like more awesome!” Bryce said of Emma, who she co-stars with in the upcoming big screen adaptation of Kathryn Stockett’s novel “The Help.” “She’s gonna kill it. She’s going to be amazing.”

The actress feels Emma’s own personality will help her embody the role that Bryce first played on the big screen in 2007’s “Spider-Man 3”

”[Emma is] so bright and so hilarious and has so much joie de vie and Gwen really embodies that,” Bryce continued. “She’s just perfect.”

The story should sound familiar to anyone aware of popular culture in 2004: A redheaded, up-and-coming starlet makes it big in a teen comedy that manages to skewer high school politics with enough intelligence to appeal to young and old alike. She’s not the typical, winsome blonde, but she instead charms audiences with a smart sassiness and spot-on comedic timing.

Yes, it’s Lindsay Lohan — or, rather, it was her when “Mean Girls” hit theaters in 2004 — but now it’s Emma Stone, the alt-cool actress currently starring in “Easy A.” And it hasn’t gone unnoticed among those zeroed in on pop culture that Stone’s career launch coincides with the lowest point of Lohan’s thus far. The latter has failed a drug test and could now go back to jail, where no one wears pink on Wednesdays and the girls are a hell of a lot meaner. So can Emma Stone be the ingénue that Lindsay Lohan failed to become?

First, let’s acknowledge that we do Emma Stone a disservice by thinking about her as the second coming of La Lohan. Despite all appearances — the most striking being both gals’ red hair, as noted by EW.com and others — Stone has none of Lohan’s DNA and has the additional benefit of being raised by neither Dina nor Michael Lohan. (Points in Stone’s favor, we say.) Lohan appeared in films as a child, while Stone made her on-screen debut at the age of 17. Lohan began in cutesy fare like “The Parent Trap” and “Freaky Friday,” but Stone entered the public eye with the teen sex comedy “Superbad” and the undead splat-a-thon “Zombieland.”

It’s only with the release of “Easy A” that Stone’s career path seems to mirror Lohan’s, but it’s also worth noting that her critically praised teen flick has thrived without the benefit of the queens of “Saturday Night Live” — Amy Poehler, Ana Gasteyer, and Tina Fey, the last of whom both wrote and starred in “Mean Girls.” Granted, “Easy A” boasts a supporting cast that includes Lisa Kudrow, Thomas Haden Church and other respected actors, but none of them suggests “instant comedic gold” the way those “SNL” vets do. Coincidentally, Stone will host “SNL” on October 23, just as Lohan did after the release of “Mean Girls.” And while a then-untarnished Lohan rocked the stage during her first hosting gig, time will tell whether Stone fares as well with live comedy. (Lohan’s December 4 hosting gig seems questionable, meanwhile.)

So, yes, they’re different enough — but can Stone do what Lohan couldn’t? All signs point to yes. From our perspective, as people who (thankfully) don’t stand in Lindsay Lohan’s inner circle, the “Mean Girls” star met her downfall as a result of kookooballs parents, an association with a hard-partying crowd (clubmate Paris Hilton is facing her own drug charges, don’t forget) and roles that declined in quality in direct proportion to the number of tabloid headlines she appeared in. Stone should fare better than Lohan if she simply focuses on her career while avoiding fly-by-night friends who enjoy stepping out of limousines without proper “privates protection.” So far, Stone’s attitude of not wanting to be the “token sexy girl” (as she recently told People) should serve her well.

Finally, there remains the question of whether Stone and Lohan could coexist in the movie business without stealing each other’s roles. Again, we say yes. We doubt Stone is gunning for the role of porn star Linda Lovelace in “Notorious,” the biopic delayed because Lindsay Lohan’s legal troubles may prevent her from performing the lead role. Besides, the notion that Hollywood couldn’t support two non-Barbie doll actresses is ridiculous. Both Lohan and Stone are beautiful, talented young women. For Stone, the appeal lies in her status as a new, undiscovered property. Lohan, meanwhile, can draw crowds and praise if she finally sobers up and rediscovers her acting abilities — at least her “Machete” co-stars are rooting for her.

Think about it: How happy would we all be if an older, wiser Lindsay Lohan makes that big comeback and pulls of a role that reminds us why we saw such promise in her? And, failing that, I guess we could also look forward to Emma Stone playing Lohan in some tawdry biopic. I’m hoping for the former.

Because she’s a spunky, pretty redhead in a high school comedy, Emma’s breakthrough performance in Easy A is naturally being compared to Lindsay’s own star-making turn in Mean Girls — but she’s already twice the actress that Lindsay ever was!

I’ve got some serious advice for you, HollywoodLifers, so listen closely. GO SEE EASY A NOW. You won’t regret it. In fact, you’ll probably thank me for pushing you into the movie theatre on a beautiful fall day as soon as you realize how utterly fantastic breakout star Emma Stone is; she is THE reason to see this film and, in my opinion, Hollywood’s newest “It” girl!

Before I continue, I have to clear one thing: Emma is no Lindsay Lohan. Yes, both girls are redheaded, freckled, funny and have starred in high school comedies, but the similarities end there. Sure, Lindsay — who was arrested for the umpteenth time today after failing yet another drug test – did have talent once upon a time, but she couldn’t carry the 2004 comedy Mean Girls the way that Emma, 21, rules Easy A. Tina Fey wrote Mean Girls‘ hilarious script and a slew of Saturday Night Live stars like Ana Gasteyer, Amy Poehler and Tim Meadows helped to give her credibility as a comedienne. All she had to do as formerly home-schooled teenager Cady Heron was sit there, look pretty and say “shut up” — a lot.

But Emma is a different story entirely. Easy A is amazing BECAUSE of her, not because it’s such such a fabulous film by itself. She is equal parts funny, fabulous, touching and REAL — I got a sense that this whole semi-ridiculous story about a high school student that pretends to have sex with losers to amp their street cred (she’s like Rob Hood, if Robin was a fake de-virginizer) could have actually happened in reality. She brings real warmth and originality to Olive Penderghast, a senior who gets branded a slut after accidentally telling her best friend (Aly Michalka) she had lost her V card to a random guy. After being a branded a harlot by the student body, Olive has no problem helping gay schoolmate Brandon (Cougar Town’s Dan Byrd) by pretending to deflower him. However, things soon escalate beyond her control and she realizes that, like the boy who cried wolf, no one believes her when she insists she isn’t the slew-bag she pretended to be…especially after she starts accepting gift cards from Home Depot for “services rendered.” To further alienate herself, she starts wearing corsets to school and sewing a red “A” on her clothing to ape The Scarlet Letter’s wrongfully accused protagonist, Hester Prynne (not-so-coincidentally she happens to be ready Nathaniel Hawthorne’s classic while her situation occurs).

The plot sounds kind of funny, but also kind of silly, right? Trust me, Emma makes the movie magic. But if you need other reasons to shell out the big bucks at the theatre this weekend, here they are!

    * Easy A is one big, old love letters to John Hughes movies! If you love the ’80s, this is the film for you! There are nods to The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Sixteen Candles and Say Anything – including Penn Badgley’s adorable boombox-holding window scene (you’ll know what I mean when you see the film)!

    * Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson are LOL-funny as Olive’s parents, Dill and Rosemary. Seriously, you can only dream about having parents this cool and funny. Spoiler alert: Rosemary was a pretty loose lady in high school herself!

    * Penn Badlgey. After years of appearing as annoying, arty Brooklynite Dan Humphrey on Gossip Girl, only now do I get Penn’s sex appeal. He’s utterly endearing as Olive’s sweet, cool love interest, Woodchuck Todd, a guy who refuses there’s anything less than awesome about his dream girl. Plus, I kind of enjoyed the indignity of seeing him in a woodchuck costume instead of skinny jeans.

    * Emma Stone, Emma Stone, Emma Stone. Sorry, guys, I couldn’t resist.

This film certainly isn’t as flawless as it’s star. Aly Michalka is deeply annoying as Olive’s BFF Rihannon and there was absolutely NO need to have such a dumb subplot about a religious freak (Amanda Bynes) who tries to save Olive from herself. Still, I’ll be seeing this movie again – and again and again and again. I literally can’t wait to see what the sensational Ms. Stone does next. Trust me, she’s no flash in the proverbial pan a la Lindsay Lohan.

You may remember Emma Stone as the girl the Superbad guys had a crush on, or the girl the Zombieland guys had to join in the zombie fight. She finally gets a movie all about her this week. Easy A is her first leading role and it’s likely to launch her into a new strata.

“I think it was less the size of the role and more the wanting to do her justice,” Stone said. “It was about the part. I loved the character so much and I felt so protective of her that doing it wrong or misstepping, you could dislike her if it was done wrong. She’s not an unlikable character, and I worried about that all the time: sounding snide, or being too bitchy, or coming across too sarcastic.”

Stone plays Olive, a high school girl who lies about her sexual escapades. It makes her a legend but she learns there are a lot of complications that come with infamy. “Without being pandering or talking down to anyone, it touches on extremism, with the Cross-your-heart Club so extremely one way, and Olive taking this girl, taking this character version of herself to this really extreme level. It touches on judging a book by its cover, no matter how true it may seem. And the speed of technology and how quickly things can be communicated or miscommunicated.”

Easy A even references The Scarlet Letter, including digs on the Demi Moore movie version. “First up, never read The Scarlet Letter and never watched the movies. I’ll be honest with you. I did read the Cliffs’ Notes version of The Scarlet Letterbut I’ll tell you the reason why I didn’t feel it was incredibly necessary to read it was, first of all, I was trying to memorize the script in that time, which was so wordy that I felt like I couldn’t read a book at the same time. The movie, to me, is less about The Scarlet Letter and more about how in high school and when you’re young, whatever you read or listen to or watch, you find a way to apply it to your life. She could have been reading The Catcher in the Rye and found a way to feel everyone’s a phony except for her.”

They also reference the classic ‘80s teen movies, from John Hughes’ ouvre to Can’t Buy Me Love and Say Anything. “Ferris Bueller’s a pretty complicated guy. He’s got that paint program on his computer with the naked girl. He asked for a car, he got a computer. I think the real goal in this movie was to pay tribute to John Hughes and Cameron Crowe, by talking about how wonderful those movies are, but also by trying not to speak down to teenagers, which is what John Hughes did best. He was so empathetic and told the story through their eyes and could remember what it was like clearly and didn’t make their problems seem smaller just because he was an adult and knew that they weren’t as big a deal as he got older. I think that was a big goal, through Olive’s eyes, was not to diminish how she was feeling just because it was a temporary teenage situation.”

So how about that newfound leading lady status? “I feel very lucky right now. I’m constantly reminding myself to enjoy it while it lasts. But it’s been a really good year.”

Easy A opens Friday.

Charismatic actress Emma Stone has distinguished herself as a promising screen talent over the past few years. She made her film debut in “Superbad” where an inebriated Jonah Hill passed out on her. In the midst of all the over-the-top violence in “Zombieland,” she still managed to create a charming and resilient character.

While Stone might have fallen victim to the gratuitous talking dog atrocity, “Marmaduke,” last summer, she has the makings of a certified movie star not only capable of great comedic work but dramatic roles as well.

Stone is an Arizona native, brought up by her parents in Scottsdale. During her youth she participated in numerous productions at Valley Youth Theater in Phoenix. While there she took part in several musicals such as “The Little Mermaid,” “The Wiz,” and “Titanic.”

Despite her musical theater background, Stone said she is not keen on doing any movie musicals.

“I would not be the best candidate. Singing makes me really depressed and nervous a lot of the time,” the actress said. “The only real musical role I would be dying to play is Sally in Cabaret. I think she’s just the greatest.”

After emerging into stardom through several supporting performances, Stone will be tackling her first leading lady part in the comedy, “Easy A,” which opens Sept. 17.

In this coming of age story, inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “The Scarlet Letter,” Stone plays a clean-cut high school student named Olive. One night the virgin Olive stages a fake sex scene with a homosexual friend, played by Dan Byrd, jumpstarting a string of nasty rumors. In due course, Olive turns that around to start her own service where she pretends to have intercourse with other virgins.

In addition to staring in “Easy A,” Stone has several other projects in the cannon for next year.

In 2011 she will star in “Crazy, Stupid, Love” with Steve Carell, an animated feature called “The Croods” and “Friends with Benefits” alongside Mila Kunis. In this mix of comedies, Stone will also be tackling the complex role of Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan in the screen adaptation of “The Help,” based on The New York Times bestselling novel. When asked about the possibility of a second “Zombieland” movie though, Stone was reluctant to reveal any information.

Stone has certainly evolved as a performer since she caught the acting bug in Valley Youth Theater’s production of “The Wind and the Willows” at age 11. She might have never made it to Hollywood though had it not been for a slide show presentation she made for her parents as a proposal to move to California. Stone said she is grateful to her parents for their support in her road to stardom. With two big hits already under her belt and numerous upcoming films, the future looks bright for this talented Valley native.

When MTV News caught up with Reuben Fleischer last week, he was hanging out in a dusty junkyard outside downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was hardly a glamorous day on the set of a studio picture, but that was where Fleischer had chosen to make “30 Minutes or Less,” his follow-up to the $75.6 million-grossing “Zombieland.”

But, as he oversaw some wacky pyrotechnic displays at the junkyard, he was thinking about the direction for “Zombieland 2″ and shared some of his thoughts with us.

First off, Fleischer confirmed he’ll shoot the sequel with 3-D cameras, rather than use a controversial post-production process. “When it comes to 3-D, I feel pretty strongly that you should shoot it in camera,” he said. “I feel like it just looks so much better. If you’re going to make a 3-D movie, go ahead and make a 3-D movie. I would definitely, if we do ‘Zombieland 2,’ make it in 3-D and want to shoot it in 3-D.”

While no stars yet have deals in place, Fleischer said “all the cast is excited to return,” including Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin and Jesse Eisenberg, who also stars in “30 Minutes.” Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are currently at work on the script, and Fleischer said they’re exploring multiple scenarios, from a plot that picks up shortly after the conclusion of the first film to one that begins further into the future. Regardless, though, “Zombieland 2″ will likely explore pre-zombie days as well.

“One of the fun things about ‘Zombieland’ is it jumps all over the place in terms of the storyline,” Fleischer said. “It’ll go to before zombies to after zombies and all around those worlds. What’s fun about the sequel is we have freedom and flexibility to show different periods. We might have scenes before the zombies, or we might have some months after, or potentially stuff further down the road. Through the voice-over and the way the movie is structured, we can really explore all different sides of it.”

“Zombieland 2″ was announced as a 3-D film back in December, when the heady glow of “Avatar” began to consume all of Hollywood. In the months since, many 3-D films have failed to connect with audiences and a sort of 3-D fatigue has set in among many moviegoers. Yet, Fleischer is not worried about backlash, nor does he agree with what James Cameron said recently about how “Piranha 3-D,” a new horror movie, “cheapen[s] the medium.”

“I love 3-D” Fleischer said. “I have a hard time saying when it’s not done well, because I have almost a childlike experience watching 3-D. It’s just so cool to me when stuff comes out of the screen. That may sound naïve, but I really do like the way it looks.”

“Obviously, animation works terrific in 3-D,” he continued. “I thought ‘Avatar’ was a complete revolution. But I even love ‘My Bloody Valentine 3-D’ — the schlockier movies that are in 3-D. I think it’s cool to see stuff fly at your face. The idea of zombies splattering into the lens is exciting for me. I understand Mr. Cameron’s point as far as not overdoing it and not making it gimmicky. I still go for that stuff. That’s the part I’m excited about.”

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly for her upcoming teen comedy Easy A, Emma Stone talks about what her life was like before hitting it big with movies like Superbad and Zombieland:

I used to do six auditions a week. It was brutal, but it was so important. I had mental breakdowns probably every three months. And every time I would have a bawling-on-the-floor fit, my mom would say, ‘Do you want to go home?’ And every time, no matter how upset I was, I was like, ‘No way!’ There was that perseverance in me.
